TITHING

We include a list of worthy apostolates and religious orders and Catholic charities that work with the poor, both in material goods and spiritual to whom we tithe one tenth of all our proceeds. Tithing is a principle of living laid out in the Old Testament, one that we believe is a part of what God wants from his holy people. The best, right off the top, given to God, who is worth more than we could ever dream of giving.

We tithe to the following apostolates, sending one tenth of all proceeds:

The second section is a comprehensive, and I mean comprehensive, directory of Catholic resources that are accessible online. A tremendous work, that is kept fresh and accurate. The third portion of this site, and the part I enjoy because you just don't see anything else like it, is devoted to writings by various everyday Catholics. And here is your chance, budding and closet essayists! You are welcome to contribute any essays or public letters you have composed to Chester for publication on his website...What a great idea!

THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY AND THE SAINTS

Our Lady of Siluva at www.lithuanian-american.org/bridges/issue3/yla.html -A page with the story of the first Church-recognized apparition of Our Lady in Europe, to a Calvinist, no less. Our Lady of Siluva is the Patroness of lukewarm and fallen-away Catholics. Surely now is the time to remember Our Lady of Siluva and renew our devotions to her!

The Mary Page at www.udayton.edu/mary -The Mary Page, maintained by The Marian Library/International Marian Research Institute at the University of Dayton in Ohio. They are an international center of research and study on the role of Mary in Christian life. The Marianists founded the University of Dayton in 1850. Since 1943 it has been a home to the Marian Library, which holds the world's largest collection of printed information on Mary, the Blessed Virgin. It has developed into a center which engages in many activities. Their goal is to present information about the Mother of Jesus and to lead people to a loving knowledge of her who is the first and most holy of the faithful. *PLEASE NOTE: There are some links here to feminist-leaning sources, which I do not support, and it also supports the apparitions at Medjugorje which are not sanctioned or recognized by the Catholic Church, but overall this is a great resource.

Not to be confused with Mary Pages, a work of love at www.marypages.com. -The pages devoted to Mary and her apparitions since 1830 of Mr. Leo de Bondt, who calls himself "Grandpa." A tremendous amount of care and work have gone into these pages on the Blessed Virgin.

All For Mary at www.AllForMary.org -Everything devoted to the Blessed Virgin. A note of heads up...A useful and interesting letter from a Church official of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and a clarification from Cardinal Schðnborn concerning Medjugorje. The Church takes the knowing stance that it makes no judgement yet as to the status of the "apparitions" there. Medjugorje is not an approved miracle of apparition, and yu can read here how we are to view it as the faithful. As an unapproved apparition, I cannot and will not promote it. But, this website has enough good material on the approved miracles of Mary that it is worth the visit. Owned by some very nice folks.

Therese, The Official site of the new movie about the life of St. Therese of Lisieux at www.theresemovie.com -A beautifully done site to promote the new movie about St. Therese, and a form to fill in to help bring the movie into full distribution.

Padre Pio Devotions at www.PadrePioDevotions.org- Hear the actual voice of Padre Pio, and read a great number of testamonials of his intercessory power with God. A great-looking site, very clean and professional, but most importantly devoted to Padre Pio, with a photo album, prayers and devotions and a newsletter called ""Pray, Hope and Don't Worry." This site offers you to answer Padre Pio's own call to "unite yourself to his prayers."

The Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Website at www.tekakwitha.org -An unbelievable resource of information and links about the Blessed Lily of the Mohawks. If you have any interest at all in this lovely saint, this is a must-visit website.

Rosaries of the Divine Union at www.livingrosaries.org.-A collection of beautiful rosary prayers for seven-decade rosary beads, written by Father Michael Adams. He has put a tremendous amount of effort and love into his work. He has a book of his collection available through snail mail, or a downloadable printable PDF format version. Before you visit, it must be said that Father Adams is a proponent of centering prayer, and there is definitely controversy as to whether centering prayer is in line with Catholic teaching or not. Many orthodox Catholics do not believe it to be so, while others see it as part of an ancient form pf prayer. My own jury is still out, and I am actually looking for some kind of an official word on the matter. If you have any doubts, then I would suggest heading for "Prayerbook" noted below.

A Catholic Page for Lovers at www.praiseofglory.com -Another incredible labor of love. don't miss it.

KNOW YOUR FAITH! APOLOGETICS AND DEFENSE FOR THE CATHOLIC FAITH

Biblical Evidence for Catholicism at www.ic.net/~erasmus/razindex.htm.-This is one smart and dedicated gentleman who has taken on Catholic apologetics with a (good) vengeance. Men like this in our church deserve our support. My only criticism is that he needs a web address I can remember more easily!

Catholic Answers at www.catholic.com -A mostly apologetics site put together by the folks who work with Karl Keating, author of Fundamentalism and Catholicism, and other great books about knowing, defending and sharing the Faith of the Roman Catholic Church.

The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights at www.catholicleague.org.-The nation's largest Catholic civil rights organization, defending individual Catholics and the institutional Church against defamation and discrimination. This is a bulldog of a guy, and nothing escapes his notice!

The Coming Home Network at www.chnetwork.org-A group founded by Marcus Grodi to help Protestants and evangelicals enter the Catholic Church, especially members of the clergy who may be giving up all for the truth. Monday nights on EWTN television, Mr. Grodi hosts a convert to the Catholic Church and discusses his journey to the Church, and a specific issue that often keeps people from understanding the truth of what the Catholic Church teaches.

The Nazareth Master Catechism at www.cin.org. -The 5 major catechisms of the Catholic Church, set up in parallel. This is just one page of James Akin's total excellent aplogetics site. Mr. Akin is a fine author and apologist for the Church, and is a convert from the Church of Christ.

CATHOLIC RESOURCES AND LINK CENTERS
As with any internet source, one must be careful when visiting link centers. Do not believe everything that's on the net!
